Hamberley Neurocare Launches Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway

Hamberley Neurocare has launched a specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway, designed to provide structured, consultant-led neurorehabilitation for stroke survivors across Hampshire and Surrey. This pathway ensures that individuals receive tailored, intensive therapy to support their recovery and regain independence.

The pathway, which follows National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines [NG236], offers at least three hours of therapy per day, five days a week, for those able to participate. It integrates physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and psychological support into a personalised rehabilitation plan, ensuring that recovery is as effective and meaningful as possible.

Speaking about the impact of this initiative, Susan Lovelace, Specialist Services Director at Hamberley Neurocare, said:

"The launch of our Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway is an important step in improving access to specialist neurorehabilitation in Hampshire and Surrey. We know that stroke survivors need more than just medical care – they need an integrated approach that supports physical, cognitive, and emotional recovery. This pathway provides a clear, structured plan for rehabilitation, giving individuals the best possible chance of regaining independence and improving their quality of life."

The 12-week pathway progresses through structured stages, from initial assessment and therapy to community integration and discharge planning, with a strong emphasis on family involvement. Hamberley Neurocare’s purpose-built centres in Basingstoke, Camberley, and Southampton feature specialist facilities, including physiotherapy gyms, occupational therapy training kitchens, sensory bathrooms, and transitional living apartments, to create an optimal environment for recovery.
