Neurorehabilitation centre breaks ground in Basingstoke

Clinicians and construction teams took part in the official groundbreaking ceremony on the Bradley Way site in November 2022.

The Hamberley Neurocare centre, in Basingstoke, will provide rehab and long-term care for people with complex needs including those resulting from brain and spinal injuries.

Featuring therapy and medical consulting rooms, a therapy gym fitted with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment including robotics, the purpose-built facility will be ideally located to support the nearby Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.

Michelle Kudhail, Director of Specialist Services for Hamberley Neurocare, said that the Basingstoke brain and spinal injury centre would provide much needed neurological rehabilitation services for the region.

“There is a significant national demand for specialist neurocare and rehabilitation services and we identified the Basingstoke area as being one of the locations particularly lacking in such provision. Sadly, this means that individuals who need specialist services, and the clinical expertise to support the complex needs associated with neurological conditions, are being placed in locations far away from their family and homes. Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke will help meet this demand and enable individuals to stay near their families and their support networks, which is so vital to their care and rehabilitation.”

Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke is being built by Lancer Scott for the award-winning healthcare developer Hamberley Development.

Gary Sollars, Commercial Manager at Lancer Scott said:

"Lancer Scott and our team are delighted to be involved in the construction of such a prestigious project and develop further their partnership with Hamberley Development.”

Complete with 27 ensuite bedrooms and one spacious self-contained independent living apartment, Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke will be a leading centre for the region.

The state-of-the-art neuro-rehab centre also includes lounges, dining rooms, and a café bar.

Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke will provide rehabilitation, long-term, respite and palliative care for people with brain injuries as well as neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
